Goodbyes

There's this band that I love, A Fine Frenzy. I first heard of them when iTunes put out a free single by them called, "You Picked Me."

Then, Leslie asked me if I had heard a song by them called, "Almost Lover." I hadn't, so she pulled it up, and I'm ADDICTED!!

I've put it on a playlist at the bottom of my blog, so you can all hear it, if you wish. I didn't make it autostart because that always annoys me...

Here are the lyrics:
Your fingertips across my skin
The palm trees swaying in the wind
Images

You sang me Spanish lullabies
The sweetest sadness in your eyes
Clever trick

I never want to see you unhappy
I thought you'd want the same for me

Goodbye, my almost lover
Goodbye, my hopeless dream
I'm trying not to think about you
Can't you just let me be?
So long, my luckless romance
My back is turned on you
I should've known you'd bring me heartache
Almost lovers always do

We walked along a crowded street
You took my hand and danced with me
Images

And when you left you kissed my lips
You told me you'd never ever forget these images, no

I never want to see you unhappy
I thought you'd want the same for me

Goodbye, my almost lover
Goodbye, my hopeless dream
I'm trying not to think about you
Can't you just let me be?
So long, my luckless romance
My back is turned on you
I should've known you'd bring me heartache
Almost lovers always do

I cannot go to the ocean
I cannot drive the streets at night
I cannot wake up in the morning
Without you on my mind
So you're gone and I'm haunted
And I bet you are just fine
Did I make it that easy
To walk right in and out of my life?

Goodbye, my almost lover
Goodbye, my hopeless dream
I'm trying not to think about you
Can't you just let me be?
So long, my luckless romance
My back is turned on you
I should've known you'd bring me heartache
Almost lovers always do

I can't stop listening to it, or singing it.

Ironic? I don't think so.

Things that induce laughter/smiles/happy feelings in me today:
1. Almost lovers. May he burn in the bad place for all of the lies.
2. Making pies with my mom.
3. I get to see Bryce soon!! (Grannie says you better come see her.)
4. Good books that I haven't felt for SO long.

I'M GRADUATING!!

Alli challenged me to make a announcement.

So I did one on InDesign for kicks and giggles during finals week, cause let's face it: everyone needs a kick and a giggle during finals. It took me 10 minutes. Literally.

I think I'll miss parts of this town. Mostly Papa Kelsey's...but some other things too. Every time I go on a walk now I study everything I pass, trying to commit it to memory.

Elliot and I were talking about graduation and how it's going to suck not seeing each other anymore. Luckily, there's a facebook for that!

I've made so many good friends here, and I'm going to miss them all so much!

Love to you all!

Things that induce laughter/smiles/happy feelings in me today:
1. Thinking up new responses to the question, "What are your plans for graduation" for every new person who asks me.
2. They finally plowed the roads after 2 days of snow. It's about time.

3. Peter Pan.
4. I found a website entirely dedicated to quotes about reading. I'm in heaven.
5. I finished my educational portfolio and it rocks.

I HATE technology!

So my computer crashed.

I have no computer.

It's rough. hahaha.

No, but really...

The purpose of this post is to tell you all that if you need me, don't use anything having to do with computers. Call the phone, cause seriously, I can't get it fixed until I'm home. I don't have time. I'll be in the library from now until the end of the century, and I don't get great reception, so if you call me and I don't answer, that's why. It's not cause I don't love you all.

See everyone in Cali really soon!!

Loves!

Things that induce laughter/smiles/happy feelings in me today:
1. The fact that I actually am doing one of these lists when I'm in such a foul mood.
2. Leslie. She calmed me down so much last night. And listened to me go on and on about John.
3. I got to talk to Bryce...ON THE PHONE!!! hahaha. It's the simple things in life.

It's a Hard Nerd Life

FOR ME! (In case you didn't figure it out, that was supposed to be sung like, "It's a Hard Knock Life" from Annie...)

It's hard to be a nerd. I'm not saying I'm a huge nerd or anything, although I'm sure some out there would argue that I am a huge nerd...I dunno. I digress...

Here's why it's hard: people don't want to do homework. And they know you're smart. And they know you like to do homework. And they know you like them. So what do they do? They take advantage. They start talking to you more in class. They start asking you out. They act all interested in you when really, they're interested in not doing their own homework, but having you do it for them.

I'm so glad I'm graduating.

Things that induce laughter/smiles/happy feelings in me today:
1. Jessie is having a girl. And I got to see the video of the sonogram!
2. I kinda sorta snapped at Brother Allen today, and someone kinda sorta stuck up for me and explained I'm NEVER like that, so there must be something wrong. And then I made Brother Allen laugh really hard and now he thinks I'm cool. He told me.
3. My group presented our PR plan today, so basically I have no more homework for that class ever since I already took the final before Thanksgiving.
4. I actually don't have a ton of homework left at all! I just have to finish tweaking one portfolio, upload everything onto the other portfolio and write one essay for my Humanities class. Cake.
5. I woke up at 9:24 on Sunday morning. Church starts at 9:30. I was a little late, but I made it!
6. Joseph Smith said, "Let what will come; don't deny the faith, and all will be well." I found that quote with my Patriarchal Blessing the other day when I really needed to hear it. And then Leslie was looking at something on my shelf and saw that quote when SHE really needed it (cause I put it on display...)!

Photoshoot!

Leslie is in a photography class and for her homework, she has to take lots of pictures (go figure...).
I was her homework one day! Her assignment was to play with light and shadow, so she shoved me in all of the dark corners of our apartment and posed me.

I've discovered I would never make a good model because I kept getting laughing fits. Poor Leslie. I think I made her homework harder than it had to be.

These aren't all of the pictures. If you want to see all of them, click here (the pictures start on the second page of the album...)
Things that induce laughter/smiles/happy feelings in me today:
1. Sunday. It can't come fast enough, if you ask me.
2. I got my cap and gown today!!! HOLY CRAP!
3. My dad's surgery went very well.
4. My PR book is done. Finally. Stupid incompetent group members that can't do InDesign so I have to do it all.
5. Jean-Baptiste
6. Garret from the library. Also the freaky guy who asked for my number the other day. Thankfully I had a good reason to say no. :o)

I'm a Mountain Man??

The last book fest is this week and I presented today!

YAY FOR NO MORE BOOK FESTS!

It's the same deal as last time - I "read" a book, made a book cover and had to talk about it.

This time, my presentation was different though! No more games here!

I read The Mountain Man's Field Guide to Grammar: A Fearless Adventure in Grammar, Style, and Usage by Gary Spina (and yes, I've decided to award him the Longest Book Title EVER award). I had no clue what the heck I was going to do for book fest until yesterday afternoon. I called Jereme to see if he had a possibles sack I could use and steal some Mountain Man-esque stuff from him. He graciously obliged because he's one of the best brothers, ever!

Then, I went to DI today and bought me a flannel shirt for $2 (two dollah, Ashley, two dollah!). I went to my first class packing all of my gear (wearing hiking boots), and then on to book fest where I braided my hair and introduced myself as the Mountain Man Guide to Grammar!

I talked about the author for a bit, and then explained what a possible's sack was, and showed off the one I borrowed from Jereme (and his really cool home-made canteen that everyone was impressed with!) and then I made the coolest connection ever. And here's where it got interesting.

Remember how I said I had no clue what I was going to do until yesterday afternoon?? That's a bit of a lie. I fine tuned it as I was setting up this afternoon. HAHAHA. Oops. As I was setting up my possibles sack display, I realized that the book was actually your own personal possibles sack (say that 4 times fast, I dare you) when it comes to writing!

*angels singing my praise*

Sister Hawker seemed impressed and apparently I am one dang cute Mountain Man.

Things that induce laughter/smiles/happy feelings in me today:
1. My blanket. (You know it's a bad day when the blanket is number one on here...)
2. Sappy music that can make you cry when you know you need to but just can't seem to make it happen on your own.
3. Leslie's amazing photography skills. (There will be a post about this soon, I promise.)
