A No Win Situation

I've been trying to work out just how I'm supposed to go back to California before school starts. It's at least a 2 day trip (driving 10 hours each day), or I could do a 3 day trip like I did on the way up.

That isn't the hard decision.

My favorite band, Blue October, is going on tour for their new album, Approaching Normal (on sale, March 24, 2009). They'll be in California (where I am not) basically the week of March 15. My niece is being blessed on March 22. I should probably stay in Issaquah for that since I'm up here already, right? The good news is, Blue October is doing a concert in Seattle on the 27 of March and there's even one in Portland - which is like 3 hours away from Issaquah - on the 26. Sounds ideal, right?

Wrong.
I don't have any friends up here in Issaquah yet. The odds of me making a friend who likes Blue October in the next couple of weeks are pretty slim since the only people I meet are people in the Singles' Ward and not a lot of people know who Blue October is. So going to the concert in Seattle is kind of an issue.

It would be great if Nicole and Chelsea could fly to Seattle. We could spend a day or two touring around (Forks, here we come!), see the concert, and have a fabulous 3 day road trip back down to California all during Chelsea and Nicole's spring break. We'll all be back in California, I can repack for school and then be on my merry little way. Sounds ideal, right?

Wrong.

It's sick and wrong of me to ask Chelsea and Nicole to buy a plane ticket, buy a concert ticket, pay for 1/3 of a hotel room, and take the time off of work (I'd pay for gas) just to help me out.

So I did some digging. Blue October is doing a show in Salt Lake City, Utah on March 31. If my brother can take the time off of work, he can help me drive back down to Los Angeles after Rachel is blessed. Nicole, Chelsea and I could take a road trip up to Utah and stay with Grannie and my Mom (which would open up a chance for my mom to come to Issaquah to meet her newest Granddaughter), see Katie Farish Stewart's new baby that Nicole and I haven't seen yet and see Blue October. We'd each only pay for a grand total of 2 tanks of gas each (my car gets spectacular mileage), a concert ticket, and food along the way. Sounds ideal, right?

Wrong.

My car can't take that much travelling. It puts way too much on the car. Plus that's like a week in a car for me. While it would definitely save Chelsea and Nicole money, it would kill my end.
It's a no-win situation, folks. And I'm bitter about it.

Things that induce laughter/smiles/happy feelings in me today:
1. Sense and Sensibility.
2. The ridiculous dream I had starring Shauna, KP, Sydney, and me.
3. Cloudy days.
